Vain Man

On Saturday, December 3rd, I made a post about how some movie icons' antics have diminished the value of their back catalog. Well, it's good to know that Tom Cruise doesn't feel that his own mental lapses of late have ruined his legacy. According to this article, Tom celebrated his fiance Katie Holmes' birthday by giving her DVD's of every movie he's been in, each accompanied by a handwritten love message. No offense, but if I get married to Julia Roberts (a female with comparable success and longevity to Tom), I'm not that interested in getting DVD's of "Steel Magnolias" or "Flatliners" or "Mona Lisa Smile". Not even if they were Criterion Collection DVD's. I'd be more interested in gifts with a little more bling. Bless Katie for being so pure of heart not to expect a yacht or a private jet as a gift. At least she has movies that she can watch on her laptop while she's riding in coach on Jet Blue.

wow. that is the lamest celebrit gift ever. they must either really be in love, or he just doesn't give a damn.

i bet she can't wait for his birthday, when she can write her own love letters to accompany "first daughter" and "teaching mrs. tingle"
